Drawing competitions always attract young inquisitive minds. School-going children simply love to explore their talent and present their innocent yet innovative ideas to the world. But the contest organized by Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd. (MNGL) in association with Sakal Social Foundation (SSF) was a one-of-its-kind platform for students to express their views on 'Clean Pune, Green Pune'. Because the main motive behind this initiative was to encourage kids to think sincerely about the environment and spread the message of nature conservation in the society through their paintings. It was held at six different venues, 3 of them were in Pune whereas the other 3 were in PCMC. 1st to 4th and 5th to 10th were two different age-groups in which thousands of students participated and displayed their creativity. Even special children were allowed to be a part of the movement. Mr. Anil Shirole, MP, was also present in the competition and motivated students to give their best. The prize distribution was done by him.
‘Save tree, save earth', 'Clean & green environment', 'Water conservation' were the topics for students from 1st to 4th standard. While the 5th to 10th group was made to focus on 'World environment day', 'Pollution-free city' and 'Urbanization & environmental imbalance'. The response was overwhelming and the very purpose of spreading awareness about the environment was successfully served.
